    Help with song about Алматы

More specifically, the first song in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar3pWnG9BZI

It's a cover of Puff Daddys cover of The Police's "Every Breath You Take"

I am still very much a beginner in Russian and can pick out certain words from the verses, and this is the most I can get from the chorus:

It might be too much to ask for, but I really hope someone can write out the lyrics to the entire song, as its a very beautiful song and I've looked all over the internet for the lyrics with no luck.

If by any chance anyone knew the song name and maybe had an MP3 of it, that would also be very helpful

Re: Help with song about Алматы

Ты моя мечта, (you are my dream)
(Alma-Ata city)
(I'm always with you)
Летом и зимой, (in summer and winter)
(my loved/dear town)

I couldn't find the text on the Internet and don't have time to write down the entire song right now, sorry. Maybe later.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

Re: Help with song about Алматы

Well, that's rap... I hate rap. Actually, rap lyrics, at least in Russian, usually is just mere verbiage without any sense. This case is a bit different, but anyway, lyrics are bad; also, very bad Russian is used in some lines. Here's the text:

<-- I don't see any sense in this line
Bad Russian; should be "наша гордость"

Should be "я не чувствую страха"

    refrain

<-- very very very bad Russian; "город" is male in Russian, so it should be "И город Алматы одним из лучших стал"

I believe that's what I hear, but the line doesn't make any sense to me

    refrain

P.S. Алма-Ата is an old, soviet name of the city. Now its name is Алматы.

Haha wow I didn't think there would be so many mistakes, but thats usually commonplace with rap in any language. You should hear the abomination of the English language with rap in America. Same thing happens with rap in my home country of Poland.

However, I listen to music purely for the musical aspect of it, even with the lyrical parts; I am more concerned with how words sound and how they go with the song rather than the actual meaning of the words themselves, and this is where I part ways with a lot of my friends on the subject of music. I think this allows me to enjoy a wide variety of music that might have nonsensical lyrics, even letting me enjoy many (well, not too many) rap songs. As long as it sounds good, I will like it.

All in all, I really like the tune and I cannot thank you anymore for writing down the lyrics for me,

    so thanks a bunch

Thanks for the correction, and don't worry I don't intend to use the lyrics as a learning tool. This was purely for myself

Not to worry. Here we often make corrections automatically, just in case.

    "Алма-Ата" is the USSR name.
"Алматы" is the modern none-russian name (transcripted to russian from national-specific). Have not forms.
"Алмата" - simplified in speaking russian from "Алма-Ата", not form of "Алматы"

In my experience most people in Kazakhstan say Алматы. Алмата is less common and, from what I have seen, is primarily used by Kazakhs and/or in the south.

Needless to say, foreigners generally prefer Алматы because we don't have to decline it.
