Thread: Attempt at poetry?

Thank you for all your help alex & gR... & thank you for the compliment also - I was a bit afraid there would be something like the <<воя>> thing.. Here's roughly what the English was supposed to be: ()=="either/or";

I am a boat without water, a horse without a field
In sleep, I hear my ancestors, howling
Familiar things to see here
Familiar these things should not be [i.e. "These things should not be familiar" w/Latin-esque sentence structure]

I remember before I was born
I know the smell, like ancient incense
Horses in snow, fire, moon
Fuzzy dreams on the border(s) of the mind

I remember before I was born
I hear the words, like hallowed prayer
Impossible things, my memories
Tears, wailing, a final goodbye


I suppose a lot of it doesn't quite come off like that.. but, is "kazhdeniya" not incense? (Translator threw me a wrench? )

каждение - censing, incensing. "Каждение" derives from "кадить" (literally swing a censer "кадило" suspended from chains towards something or someone, typically an icon or person). So it's technically like a gerund. The letter "ж" drops out for no evident reason to me, the word is very old and used only in church terminology (we have such tricks in Old Russian, when letters drop out).
