– I will go home, but I don’t know when.

When you want to express that there will be a continuous action in the future ("will be going, will be in the process of going") instead of a finished action in the future ("will go(and be done with it)").

She went to the library (she is back)
Let me see if I got this straight. Correct me if I am wrong.

идти - to be on the way (usually one way, usually by foot) Ex 1.1
пойти - to start to go (usually one way, usually by foot, implies 1 time) Ex 2.3
ходить - to go (usually by foot, implies regularly) Ex 1.2

    past tense if идти
I/you/he/it was on the way Ex 1.3

    past tense of ходить
I/you/he/it went (to the destination regularly) Ex 1.4 & 1.6

    past tense of пойти
I/you/he/it went (and probably is at the destination now) Ex 2.7

Question regarding ходил (Ex 1.4 and 1.6):
он ходил в бар = he went to the bar
Does this mean he used to go to the bar on a routine basis, now he does not go anymore?
OR does this mean he went to the bar and he is back now?
OR does it depend on the situation?

    Ok, here I go:

– Yes, we will go to the stadium, stop pestering me!
    vs
    but you can say also
Yes, we will be going to the stadium while you watch TV.

    4. I will go to the police, if you don’t stop harassing me!
    but you can say also
I will be going to the police and they rob my apartment in the meantime.

So you can use "буду идти" interchangeably with "пойду" at least in some contexts ( with Future Progressive ).

I think "буду идти" is extremely awkward and to tell the truth your examples, Denis, sound unnatural to me. Just my opinion.

Well you're probably right, I couldn't think out something better. I would also prefer 'пойду' to 'буду идти' but I see nothing criminal in my examples too. Well I can imagine somebody is saying that.

    But what about this one:

You can't replace 'буду идти' with 'пойду' here, can you?
