Let me see if I got this straight. Correct me if I am wrong.
идти - to be on the way (usually one way, usually by foot) Ex 1.1
пойти - to start to go (usually one way, usually by foot, implies 1 time) Ex 2.3
ходить - to go (usually by foot, implies regularly) Ex 1.2
past tense if идти
я/ты/он шел - I/you/he/it was on the way Ex 1.3
past tense of ходить
я/ты/он ходил - I/you/he/it went (to the destination regularly) Ex 1.4 & 1.6
past tense of пойти
я/ты/он пошел - I/you/he/it went (and probably is at the destination now) Ex 2.7
Question regarding ходил (Ex 1.4 and 1.6):
он ходил в бар = he went to the bar
Does this mean he used to go to the bar on a routine basis, now he does not go anymore?
OR does this mean he went to the bar and he is back now?
OR does it depend on the situation?
