Thread: Can you produce a few sentences for me?

I hope this is the right section. Can someone give me a few phrases/sentences that these words can be used in.

I know they are extremely common, but the from the direct translations I can't tell when I should use them instead of synonyms.

Я перевел это, как: "It wouldn't be unlikely for there to be an interesting program on television. It wouldn't be unlikely for me to have forgotten the keys.

Вы знаете, разве это правильный?

Вместо вашей фразы "Вы знаете, разве это правильно?" лучше сказать "Как вы думаете, это правильно?" или "Я правильно перевел?"

Вообще то, я не совсем понял, вы переводили с английского на русский или наоборот, но эти фразы можно перевести так:

It wouldn't be unlikely for me to have forgotten the keys. = "Это маловероятно, чтобы я забыл ключи" или "Для меня нехарактерно забывать ключи"

"It wouldn't be unlikely for there to be an interesting program on television." = "Очень маловероятно, что по этому каналу покажут что-нибудь интересное"

это правильно: I debated whether to say this or правильный, but I went with the latter because the former seemed like I was saying, "is this correctly," not "is this correct." Does anyone know the grammatical reason for using правильно instead; I'm a bit confused by it. If I wanted to say, "These sentences are correct," wouldn't I say, "эти фразы правильные."

That is depend on grammatical gender

"он правильный?" - окончание "ый" т.к слово "он" мужского рода (it's masculine grammatical gender)
"это провильно?" - окончание "o" т.к "это" средний род (It's neuter grammatical gender)

If I wanted to say, "These sentences are correct," wouldn't I say, "эти фразы правильные."

Yes, you could say "эти предложения (or phrases = фразы) правильные." It's correct,
but if "This sentence is correct" = "это предложение правильное."

O ok, thank you. I assumed the neuter form of the adjective would be правильное.

It is (although it has a "short form" правильно). However, in the sentence above "это правильно?", правильно is an adverb, not an adjective.

they have same root, just like many other words, but ПРАВЫЙ and ПРАВИЛЬНЫЙ are not synonyms
