To master the Russian "mat" and to understand it correct(!) and to feel(!) it - is the same as to master some foreign language to perfection, to know it like it's your own native language. Hey, you and 99% of the population cannot understand Shakespeare, so don't be too hard on yourself. I think you cannot compare Russian swearing and Shakespeare. I'm not claiming to be a master of Russian swear words, because I'm sure right now people are thinking up new words and its impossible to know them all. But believe me, I KNOW what they mean, I CAN feel their meaning. So you could probably just get over that sometime soon, please, k thnxs.

Dogboy, я вижу, ты у нас сторонник откровенных высказываний, поэтому скажу прямо: у тебя совершенно ИДИОТСКИЕ представления о том, когда, где и как можно и нужно употреблять мат, а твои попытки доказать носителям языка, что ты лучше них знаешь, как правильно материться, смешны.

Похоже, все свои сведения об употреблении/неупотреблении мата ты черпаешь либо у каких-то гопников, либо у глубоко религизозных людей (не хочется говорить сектантов). И та, и другая точка зрения - как раз и есть crazy extreme.

Mat in a normal conversation is a thing you may use with a classmate, old friend, etc. You can use mat when you absolutely must express your negative feelings (in some really outrageous situations). You can (i didn't say should) answer with mat if you were adressed with mat. That's a nearly complete list of possible mat usage situation
And aren't we all friends here?
