    Some racy lyrics

    What does this mean? --

голубя мира съели беспризорники для утоления голода

And I still haven't gotten a good explanation for --

    жесть как она есть

And what does this mean --

дамовая завеса мой проверенный щит, я долблю sh*t, уже много лет
    своим привет
    исправьте мои ошибки :P

The 'dove of peace' was eaten by street kids to still hunger.

And I still haven't gotten a good explanation for --
    жесть как она есть -
жесть - this slang word derives from жестокий, жесткий -

So this could be translated something like: It's mean hard!
    Sometimes: it could mean 'tough'

And what does this mean -- дамовая завеса мой проверенный щит, я долблю sh*t, уже много лет
    своим привет
дамовая завеса - could be a typo from дымовая завеса (a smoke screen)
or an intentional word play - a screen of ladies

A screen of (smoke|ladies) ... is my proven shield, i've been beating sh*t for many years, greetings for my mates.
Send me a PM if you need me.

I've had a question about the word Жесть for awhile now... I understand what the word means but, for example...

I posted a picture of some people I know on another forum, and one of the people in the picture replied with "Жесть!".

Is it bad? like "Woah, I don't like how I look in this picture." ? Its my best guess, can you explain?
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

The word is able to convey differnet meanings... Wonder, joy, sadness, disappoinment, anger. If it is a happy smiley after it, then it means "the shit". Every other case is simply vague and just looks "cool" and nothing more.

GreenLarry, how on earth could that be right?? What does it suppose to be?
If you were trying to transliterate the line, your transliteration is bad, but Russian language uses the Cyrillic alphabet, and there is no any transliteration in Latin which could be "right".
If you really need some exercise in Russian, then do that in Russian, and practise translating, not transliterating because the latter is an unproductive occupation and I don't think it could be useful in learning a language.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

Well, I am following the instructions in a book I borrowed and am learning the sounds of each letter, it helps and is how every book teaches us. Plus i dont have the Cyrillic alphabet on my computer yet.

If you have Windows, you have the Cyrillic alphabet in it, believe me

So you were asking about the pronunciation, right?.. Then:
Goloobya mira cyelee Beespreezorneekee dlya ootalyeneeya golada

That's the pronunciation, more or less... (But it's not the transliteration, anyway)

Well, i got that right anyway, but even with cyrillic alphabet on the PC i wont be able to translate in a way i understand. For example the first word i learned was Zdrastvyitse, the formal greeting, but of course without being told I would just translate the russian letters into Zdrastvyitse but of course would not know what it meant! Same with Privet. i had to be told it meant hello or Hi otherwise although i would be able to say the word privet i wouldnt know what it means.
Now how do i get those cyrilic letters out of windows....

Thanks. I set it to russian but the keys are all in a different place so when I press S I get i etc. I then set the keybaord to english and i lose the cyrillics! I must ask my partner when she comes home-she is learning Japanese text and has the japanese language setting for herself.

It doesn't work this way either. You cant' translate stuff into your native language and then magically understand it. You need to understand first, and the only if you need result in other language, express the same in said language.

    Is it a question?( http://bash.org.ru/quote/398441 )

You get no i but ы.
Being short of stickers, get a marker and draw this stuff on front side ( not top ) of your keys.

Yes, because this is the correspondence of the standard Russian layer to the English QWERTY layer.

Learning russian is like being in another world! I love the sound of it tho.
Once I was talking to a russian friend on ICQ and he would begin to teach me. He taught me to say Zdrastvyetse by recording his voice saying it. I would copy and send it back and he was impressed. Fun times....

People are probably going to punch me in the face after this because its practically cheating but

    http://translit.ru/

you can type Russian there using a qwerty layout. For example you press ASDF and you get АСДФ.
