Help with Russian to English Translations

Please can someone translate this for me? I need it to be fully translated letter by letter, because its an encrypted message and I need to decrypt it, but I don't know Russian or the Cryllic letters.

So it isn't russian. It might be english with cyrillic letters, but it isn't making sense to me.

    First two words transliterate as:

    yub gdzhikvotsgvob...

you might have to replace each symbol (let's just call them symbols) with a english letter and decypher it, simply transliterating isn't going to work

Unfortunately it is not possible, because one Russian letter does not always translate to one English letter. For example

    ю - yu

Knowing Russian isn't going to help you here, I don't think.

Besides, there are numerous ways to transliterate Cyrillic to English.

Not to speak about the 'v' which shines with its absence in the Cyrillic alphabet

And actually, there are two kinds of V (like two different fonts): one which looks like "V", and one that's finished off with two little lines on top.

There's also the Y, which I think isn't a (weird form of a) cyrillic У, as the font size is the same as the V.

    It's gobbledygook.
I'm afraid you'll have to get out your Enigma and start beaking the code!

V used to be a rare letter in Russian, but was eliminated in the 1917 spelling reform. The words "Myrrh" and "Synod" were pretty much the only two words people used it in at the time, and even then most people just used У.

As for Y, yes it is not the same as Russian У, but it does exist in the Cyrillic scripts of Tatar, Chechen, and some of the central Asian languages like Kazakh, Kyrghyz. All also have the letter У as well.

And Ѓ is used in the slavic Macedonian language, and is just a palatised Г (Гь).

The problem with what Sputnik is asking is that each Russian letter may be transliterated in a number of different ways.

Ю can be yu, ju, iu, or maybe even 'u.
Ж can be zh, ž, etc.
Ш can be sh, sch, ch, š etc.

I don't think you need a "translation" or anything of the sort, just consider them abstract symbols. At first I thought "йдц" substitutes "the", but then I noticed йдц at the end of the second sentence. Maybe it's "for". Then йдцк in the last sentence could be "form". "V" could be an "a", it's the only one standing separately. Run statistics on how many times every symbol is used, compare with English, etc. That'll give you something to start with.

In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

I find this interesting. Give us some background on where you got this etc. and maybe we can be of more help. I don't think it's simply english with cryptic letters, there are several words with 11 or 12 letters. Did anyone notice the other stuff in the background? There is an envelope postmarked Енакiево, a city in Ukraine, given away by the "i" that isn't used in russian. But the map has "ы" which isn't used in Ukrainian. Very interesting indeed.

It isn't used in Russian now, after the spelling reform of 1917(?). I can clearly see a "ять" and words ending with ъ (also no longer existing).

Yep and even below the "Енакiево" it says "Екат. Губ." which clearly means Екатаринбургская губерния, the administrative region around the city Екатаринбург which is most definitely in Russia.

It is mo more Екатеринбургская губерния after 1917 too. It is called Свердловская область now.

What's the document on the left -- some sort of travel permit? I can pick out the words "explanation/explanatory", village, railroad, highway/other road...
Заранее благодарю всех за исправление ошибок в моём русском.

Комбинация ЙДЦ - может быть THE
А вообще, мне кажется это довольно простой шифр - одни буквы подменены другими, ЙДЦ встречается 4 раза
еще есть ЙДЦК, что может быть THEN
Хорошо бы знать, на каком языке зашифрован текст, т.к. в английском артикль не может стоять на последнем месте в предложении.

Before the 1917 spelling reform the letter И was not found before vowels or Й. Instead there was І.

    Россія, Русскій, Англійскій

Notice the postal stamp looks like it is dated 1910.

Also there is ыя which is not allowed in modern Russian, and also the letter Yat'.
