kalinka_vinnie, I must admit that even I, a native Russian speaker, am not sure what you meant by "ссун". Does it derive from the informal verb "ссать" (piss, pee) or what?
It's pretty obvious: ссун=сыкун. Do you know what сыкун is?
    Spot on!

    Here's an example:
Мой отец замечательный человек.(My father is a wonderful person) Я всегда могу подойти к нему со своими проблемами и он всегда выслушает меня и даст хороший совет. (I can alsways come and tell him of my problems and he will always listen to me and give me some good advice) Он всегда радуется моим успехам. (He always shares the joy of my success) В нашей семье все уважают и поддерживают друг друга. (In our family everyone respects and supports each other)

Well, in fact I guessed as much but wasn't 100% sure At least I gave Barmaley a clue to the comprehension of the word
And by the way, Barmaley, I liked your word "Гитлеришка". Funny word that is.
Please correct my mistakes if you can, especially article usage.

Indeed you did. I think I've got it now...

Well, in that case, I award you the full copyright for its use in Kazakhstan. You may now feel free to name any cat Гитлеришка. And yes, I really do think cats are that evil...

On a completely unrelated note, why do you list both names for the Kazakh capital? Is it simply to help foreigners comprehend where you're located or is it a political statement of some sort?

I just caught that. You are farking awesome.
Хомис! This may be the greatest/saddest term that I have ever seen transliterated into Russian!

On a serious note, should мигают really be 3rd person plural and not singular here?

I think people may be more willing to help you if you post what you have done for the assignment, and ask for feedback and corrections.

By the way, could somebody write two pages (in Russian) about Pushkin's use of realism in his story Пиковая дама? Thanks, I would appreciate it.

Well, in the first place I have to inform you that Almaty's no longer the capital of Kazakhstan, since 1998 to be precise Now the capital is Astana (which was called Akmola until 199. "Astana" translates from Kazakh as "capital"
I'm not interested in politics. I just want "to help foreigners comprehend where you're located". Incidentally, for this purpose I've marked my place on the map (http://www.frappr.com/masterrussiancommunity) with some stupid illiterate shoutouts

On a serious note, should мигают really be 3rd person plural and not singular here?
What do you mean? "мигают" was just an online translation of the : wink : smile ( )

Should've been "Клево... а говоришь ли ты по-казахски?"
Um... I know several tens of Kazakh words...

    D'oh!
What kind of abbreviation this might be?

It's an expression meaning "how stupid I am not to know this".
It has been popularised this past decade by Homer Simpson.
