I got this from a song...it's only the second verse. I get some of the words but I need someone to break it down for me word for word in english. Everybody's help is appreciated...

As I understand it’s a popular Russian song “Aleshka” (Aleshka – boy’s name)

And here is my translation:
(It doesn’t seem to be perfect, but it is close to Russian variant)

My poster doesn’t hang on the wall of your house
And you haven’t remember about me already
And you’re afraid of talking your friends
That you don’t want to lose Aleshka (He is her boy-friend)
And you are standing a few steps away (two steps away)
And you will not be able to hide tears in your eyes
And you don’t know how far you’re away from here
And there is a river of tears between you and him

Then there should be a refrain. As far as I remember, it begins like:
Потому что есть Алешка у тебя
[Because you have got Aleshka] and so far…

Don’t try to look for any plot in Russian pop-songs

But there are some mistakes in a song. Here is correct text:

ты уже не помнишь обо мне
и подружкам ты боишься рассказать - you don't know exactly how to tell this to your (female) friends
каk Алёшку ты не хочешь потерять - Алёшкa - diminutive of Alexey
и стоишь ты рядом в двух шагах
и не скроешь слезы на глазах - скрывать - hide
и не знаешь как ты далека
между вами снова слез река

АГА !! THis makes sense ! thanks JJ, i wasn't sure what "Алёшку" meant.
and to many things have the word "Друг" in them it gets a little confusing when you don't know all the rules... but i did it all without help ! sorry it wasn't all right anywys, Димон, not critizing you at all, but just how do you get

When the author says: "Не висит плакат мой дома на стене", he means the wall of that girl's house. So in my translation I specified that wall as "the wall of your house".
Maybe I'm wrong? Frankly speaking, I'm only a beginner in English so I don't know many things...
Could you explain this case in details?

If I were translate it I would say "The poster of me doesn't hang in your home on the wall". Anyway Демон translated it correctly because singer really means only that girl's home. And, I don't know it exactly, but for me word "house" means something like separate building while "home" means just a place of living (it can be a flat). By the way in Russian word "дома" means only "inside a home". So, the poster hangs inside that girl's home (not outside where everybody can watch it). Dogboy, I know that you a smart guy, I am just clearing it up. If you want you can make fun of me (ohohoh! ahahaha! Tu-160 doesn't know what is the difference between a "home" and a "house"!!!).

no no no. i didn't even know how to use домой correctly till like a month ago. anyways, i see what you are sayign димон. i that that the singer was refering to your as the listener's house has no poster. i see what you're saying now. you were right ! and TU. дома does not always refer to inside a house. becuase on time, i was on the metro, and i saw a russian guy i new, and i asked him "Где твоя классная тачка ?" ? he responded "Дома". now, i don't think that he meant that his car was inside is house, in his room. i think you meant to say that дома translates as "At home" . and димон, you are very good from what i have seen, your english is fine, don't worry about it.

I think what TU was trying to say was "at home", he simply wasn't able to translate it exactly into english....it's safe to say that most Russians know Russian better than you do, for now.

No, it doesn't. It is confusing to english speakers because дома is not exactly specified as the girls house, it may very well be my house, but it is implied that it is the girl's house. For example:

is ambiguous, because it's not specified who's home it was.

I think you're the last person who could make conjectures about anyone's intelligence. And I am pretty sick of people who blow off everything said on the internet as a "joke" so they can make themselves look like relaxed folk when the other guy gets pissed.
