I like those photos. I think I'll visit Rybinsk.
rockzmom, shouldn't it be "is a very beautiful place"?Santa Barbara is very beautiful place.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.
Later I'll post a photo of myself Is that what you are trying to say?Originally Posted by Vitalik100
Photo is short for photograph. Thank you for sharing.
As for me posting photographs that would be a bit tricky as I only have them on my computer and I cannot link them. I do live not too far from Washington, D.C. so there are lots of photos of this area on the Internet.
I can tell you that I grew up here and after living all over moved back here because it is a wonderful place to raise children. Washington has many things to do for free. Until just recently ALL of the museums were free and most are open every day except Christmas. Now there are only maybe at the most five that charge a fee, so it is still great.
My favorite time of year here is spring (March-April) because of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Around the Thomas Jefferson Memorial there more than 3,800 cherry trees from Japan. This photo actually has the Washington Monument in the background as I could not find one that I liked with the Jefferson Memorial in the background. The trees have these beautiful light pink flowers and when they are in bloom it is spectacular. When the petals fall, it is like snow but it is warm outside.

You are absolutely 100% correct about the article "a". Rockzmom just made a mistake, or maybe she was getting into her Dimitri character and forgot about articles.Originally Posted by "Оля":h349qgnt

Very good catch Оля!
I had logged off for a while to write. You were correct; I missed my "a" in typing. I was having a hard time putting the photos in. I had never done that before and I got sloppy with my typing. I am not as good at typing as my mother. She can type over 100 words per minute without mistakes! I remember as a child she would type on an old typewriter (no computers back then; but, no inkwells either) and talk to me at the same time while she was typing and be able to answer the phone too.
You (or anyone else) may always correct my mistakes or ask me why I use certain words or phrases or just ask me if you think I messed up. The expression I use, "no blood no foul."

Those are not fireworks. Those are oil rigs way out in the ocean that at night are lit up.
Here is what one looks like during the day:
And here is a closeup of one at night:

Have you seen the great SantaBarbaras arch showed at the "Santa Barbara" soap? Can you post photo of this arch?
Ой! Я понял! Я не правильно перевел! Ясно что это за огни!
Я не понял просто что такое "Oil Rigs"
No, I don't believe that they even have any cherry fruit on them, just the flowers.Originally Posted by Vitalik100

Okay, you are writing in Russian and you have "Oil Rigs" do you not know that term/word???Originally Posted by Vitalik100
It is the machinery that gets oil out of the ground from beneath the sea. They also have ones that look different for land. People live on the ones at sea and during very bad storms they must shut it down and everyone must leave the "rig."
