Thread: Why such grey outmn in Russia? Thoughts aloud.

Too all who have been posting on this thread or care to post...

I checked the FAQs and the rules and did not see anything about what I would like to request, so dear Master Administrator, if you read this and I am making a BIG mistake, please forgive me...

I would like to make a special request. As Vitaly and I are new to Master Russian, we do not have the history of all of the people here and as it became clear at the start of this thread, it can cause some confusion.

So, I would like to suggest that if you are or want to post on this thread, please introduce yourself to Vitaly so that he knows who you are (and this way to me and others too).

It does not have to be anything big or too personal. I know people want to keep things personal off the Web so you can just give general things like if you are native Russian or American or from somewhere else, a general location of where you are, male or female, age or agish (like 20s, 30s, 40s...), maybe you can say if you are married, if you have children or if you have brothers or sisters. If you want to say if you are a student or what you do for work, that would be nice too; but, not mandatory. Nice and simple.

Now here is the important part... you need to be honest here. Just say what you want to say about yourself that you will be honest about. If you aren't going to be honest, then don't bother.

Talk to me about music. Tell me, what do you listen to? What do you like and don’t like? What is popular?

I have been told that if I took all the brain cells that I have used for learning all of the song lyrics I have stored in my brain and used them for learning languages, I could have learned at least three maybe four other languages by now.

All this to say that I love music. I am a music whore so to speak.

Everything from Linkin Park’s Bleed It Out and Given Up to classical like Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.5 in C minor, Op.10 No.1 - 1. Allegro molto e con brio by Vladimir Ashkenazy and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. My least favorite has to be pure County and Western.

I have a 20 gig Archos, not an iPod, with over 700 songs on it and I still don’t have all of my music on it! I would say that 80% of the music I like is from prior to year 2000.

A sampling of just some of the older bands and in no particular order: The Who, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Bon Jovi, Electric Light Orchestra, Boom Town Rats, Van Morrison.

As for newer groups… well my girls have me listening to Katy Perry. I also like Coldplay’s Viva la Vida (but I like their older stuff too) and The Fray’s new song You Found Me. Kings of Leon (the girls just did a music video with them otherwise I would not have known who they were.) I also like Pink’s new song, So What.

Yes, I agree... he does have a nice smile. Easy on the eyes and he looks much better with his hair style now than in the earlier videos. He still is a little too flashy for me though. It looks as though he is trying too hard to be sexy.

I think it might take me a few times more times of listening to him to add him to my playlist. I have added him to my Archos though. I played him this morning for the girls. They thought it was a girl singing. Maybe I should have waited until they were more awake.

I do live not too far from Washington, D.C. so there are lots of photos of this area on the Internet.

me too!! i grew up in md, but now live in pa. i'm only about an hour and a half out now, but before i was about 45 minutes.

any plans for the inauguration?? my friends and i plan on driving down the night before and camping out. it might be cold, but totally worth it.
