Thread: Yes, we upgraded the Forum. Tell us what you think?

We have completed the upgrade of forum software to the next major version.It has a different default look (surpize) so don't get scared. This is actually very exciting.

Please, leave your comments here or in a new thread about almost anything, including:

- any errors
- speed of forum
- looks, style, design (we plan to add more styles soon, and you can override the default style to whichever you prefer the most. There are number of styles available. Check out some of them here, for example)

I will gradually restore all the old buttons and graphics into the new look.

Some posts made during the last 24 hours were not converted, due to the fact that I left the board open for posts during that period. All older posts were not lost, however!

My initial reaction when I opened the page up was "wow" - I like it. Also, for some reason, I prefer the font that the system now generates for posts. What I will say, though, although I may just be being fussy, is that now, if you try to reply to a post before you log in, you have to "Return to previous page" in order to start typing your message. Surely you'd want to do that anyway so that wouldn't be necessary? Or is that there for a reason I'm not thinking of? I'll say more later once I've looked around a little bit, it's great so far.

I am completelly shoked for this moment, though I am about to explore the site and find every good features of its new look.
I felt like in the stupid movies when you get up in the morning and suddnely see yourself in the mirror looking completely not like you!

In the first seconds I thought my computer was broken, then that it jumped to the unknown site.
But I feel that all what was to the right is to the left now, and it seems unwell. I am acustomed to look at the left side of the page first and see the first information (who is posting) and now I feel like Alice behind the mirror.

When can I change the color scheme, please?

The style is highly unwonted, and we all have to get used to it. It’s cool anyway.

By now, the only thing that’s weird is user info on the right.

Some smilies have bacome disgusting in look.

I agree with Rtyom; having the user information on the right is strange, I think. Some of the smileys do look a little strange. Also, when you want to view a reply to a topic, you didn't have to log in before. You only had to log in if you wanted to reply to it. I suppose that problem can be solved by clicking the box saying to log you in automatically, though.

To change the style, go to User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> My board styles

Right now, there is one style with user profiles on the left side. I will make it look more like the old one we had before, and will add several more soon.

This was because of the square brackets inside the name of the picture. You need to rename the file or replace the square brackets with special character for brackets %5B and %5D like this:

The BB code is enabled for the signatures.

I really like it. I couldn't case less about the colours as long as it's readable, which it is, and I prefer the new layout especially when viewing the site on my mobile.

New layout is acceptable for me just in another style than default one. When I browsed the forum after revision in my first time, I thought: "What the hell they've done with avatars and info ?" It looks really odd and unwonted to see on the right side. So I just switched it to the common one and getting joy now.

The site no longer logs me in automatically, even though I have the option checked. As to the new layout and skin, I guess it takes getting used to

A question: Why can't I change "my language profile" from British English to anyone other? There is no choice. Will it be added?

I find this horribly ugly and unclear. I really liked the simplicity and restrained elegance of the previous forum.

That said, I aknowledge that it may be just getting used to it.

Besides, I haven't tried the other styles and color schemes, just this default one.

А почему теперь запаролена тема "Dual-Language Books" (при входе требует пароль, но под обычным паролем внутрь не пускает)?

И логиниться теперь приходится заново каждый раз, как заходишь на форум (опция "Запомнить меня" не срабатывает). Надеюсь, это временно.

Еще, по-моему, стали намного медленнее грузиться страницы.

Больше глюков пока не замечено.

Я поменяла стиль на Subsilver2, фонт - на больший и форум стал выглядеть привычнее.
Да, раздражает, что страницы переворачиваются медленнее.
А можно будет потом поменять цвет форума и размер фонта?

Will those posts eventually also be converted? I note the entire thread «Я тебя поцеловала» Аллы Пучачёвой is missing from the "Translate This!" forum.

Previously when I entered the "Grammar and Vocabulary" forum, the threads were ordered so that the thread with the most recent posting was presented first, and then the others followed in the order of second-most-recent, third-most-recent, etc. That no longer seems to be the case.

If from at the bottom of the page I choose "All Posts," "Post Time," "Descending" in order to sort the threads in that manner, the threads still do not seem to arrange themselves in the desired fashion. I assume that is a bug?
