I use to live in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, Fl, which is very close to Miami. My father, step mother and my 105 year old grandmother, live in Wellington, Fl. I have been to Miami several times.

In California, I lived in both Santa Barabara and in Van Nuys. Van Nuys is near Los Angeles. My sister lives in Sherman Oaks which is also near Los Angeles and I have an Aunt who lives in San Francisco.

No, I never was in USA. My impression of California for example formed by film "Makkena's gold". Arizona, Nevada and all California are wonderful sunny and warm land. I have a dream to visit this region, to walk a california's mounts and ocean beatchs.

About 10 years ago there was a serial "Santa Barbara" on our TV chanal. It went very long. I remembed it began when i start 1 th class of school and ended when i was allready at the 5 th class. Currently I decide to find city of Santa-Barbara with GoogleEarth program. And I found it town - small sunny town on a Pacific Ocean beatch arrounded by montains and deserts. the location of most california's towns is the same - skyscrapers between montains and deserts. I think such position is intresting and unusual.

Yes, Alexander is a male name and we also have Alexandra for the girls. I actually had Alexzander on my list as one of the boy names if I had a boy because I liked the nickname Zander. But alas, I had two girls and I did not want to use it for a girl as if she decided to use Alex for her nickname it can be confusing as we have seen here.

Your English is VERY impressive. Are you certain Russian is your native language? How long have you been studying English? Do you know other languages?

We call the serials in the U.S. "Soap Operas" or "Soaps" It has to do with the fact that when they first started on radio, soap manufacturers were the show's sponsors or advertisers. In Latin America, they are called, "Telenovela" or just "Novelas."

Santa Barbara is very beautiful place. I went to college there at Brooks Institute for photography http://www.brooks.edu/ . What I found to be weird and fascinating at the same time were the oil rigs off the coast. At night time they are all lit up and you can see them from the beach. Here is an example of what I am speaking about.
I would sit on the beach and stare at them. I had never seen them before and they just mesmerized me.
