Thread: Suggestion for audio lounge...

Hi.

Not sure whether this is possible or has been suggested before, but here goes...

It would be good to have some type of audio lounge. This is where if someone asks how someone says a word or phrase in either russian or english, they could record it and upload it in the forums. This way if a word is pronounced strangly etc, people could here the native tongue.

I certainly think it would help me, and any other beginner who is not fluent and has had little contact with Russian people.

Great. Hopefully it will get lots of use. Only one thing I will say is that you need to make sure there are no copyright issues - people uploading clips from other sites etc? If people are self recording the phrase then it is certainly ok.

How's he supposed to know what clip I uploaded, my own or stolen from another site?

I believe that was the point I was trying to make! lol. Basically it should be fine, sites wont mind if it does happen to be honest, as long as what is put on is not being charged for. Its not really a worry, just thought I should mention it. Perhaps to to make sure its stated in the rules thats all.

I don't have an audio plugin in my browser so I can't listen to audio clips.
Couldn't you add "download" button?

I didn't write this mod so I can't re-code it. However, you can spot the location of the file and download it. You'd need some knowledge of HTML fot that. Search for .wav or .mp3 extensions in the HTML source of the page (in IE, select View -> Source from the menu). For example, Gerty's version of "простите" will be at http://masterrussian.net/mforum/files/prostite_885.wav
