Note that if you do a Google Image search for жребий, you will get hits such as these:





So the word can mean "a die / dice", as it does here in the Julius Caesar quote, but it has a broader meaning than that.

My version:
Zhizn', eto boi neskolko raundov
Zhizn', eto boi v neskolko raundax

Бой [продолжительностью] в несколько раундов.
Дорога [длинной] в сто километров.

Длиной/длиною - corresponds to "long" in English equivalents: Длиной два дюйма = 2 inches long
Often is omitted:
путешествие длиною в жизнь

Note the singular Н (also бешеная собака)

Why roditelnyi padezh?

The phrase ‘несколько раундов’ is in accusative here.
The word ‘несколько’ behaves like a numeral. When in nominative or accusative, it requires the dependent word to be in genitive, otherwise the dependent word should have the same case.
