Random expressions for translation 4

Some of these expressions are not easy at all. Well, I'll try to help:

1. Now I am working mainly in London (i.e. I am working and in other countries but most of the time I am in London)

- Я теперь в основном работаю в Лондоне.

2. I was confused. I apologize. This happens very often due to my low level in Russian = я запутался. прошу прощения. это случается очень часто из-за моего низкого уровня.

- Я смущен, приношу мои извинения. Такое часто случается из-за того, что мой русский не достаточно хорош.
You may also say: "из-за того, что мой русский хромает" or "из-за того, что мой уровень знания русского низок")

3. I was working until now = я работал пока сейчас

- Я проработал до этого самого момента (времени).
Or:
- Я проработал до текущего момента времени.
Or:
- Я проработал до этой самой минуты.

Actually, I think there is an error in the English phrase. The past continuous isn't used with "now". It's better to say: "I have been working until now"

4. Our bargaining power as country/company/group has increased dramatically = ... переговорная сила ...

I would translate the word "power" as "способность" or "умение" (ability) in this context: ... способность/умение вести переговоры...

5. I understand that the price is high. But I think we can bargain it.

- Я понимаю, что цена высока. Но думаю, мы можем поторговаться.

6. You shouldn't have even ask for this. It is granted (i.e. a right) = ...это разумеется

- Не стоит даже спрашивать об этом. Это само собой разумеется.

7. For me the most important is that you start be more aggressive with the buyers= самая важная для меня это что ты начинает быть более агрессивный с другими / самя важная для меня, что ты начал ... / самя важная для меня является то, что ты начает быть ...

I don't understand, what do you exactly mean, whether you want somebody to become more aggressive, or you just state the fact that he/she has become or is becoming more aggressive? If it's the first option, you should say something like this:

- Для меня самое важное - чтобы ты стал более активным в работе с покупателями. (The word "агрессивный" has a negаtive connotation in Russian, so I wouldn't use it in this context)

If it's the second meaning, you'd rather say:

- Для меня самое важное - то, что ты стал более агрессивным по отношению к покупателям. (This sentence sounds as a reproach).

8. Many times I wonder how difficult is the job I am doing and why still I am doing it = иногда спрашиваю себя сколько трудна работа я делаю и зачем я еще делаю ее (The impressive is that I know all the words but for me the creation of this sentence is impossible ... the most scary part is that I don't understand why is so difficult)

- Иногда я удивляюсь, насколько тяжела моя работа, и почему я до сих пор её делаю?
Or:
- Иногда я удивляюсь, как тяжела работа, которую я выполняю, и почему же я до сих пор ей занимаюсь?

Remember also, that the word "still" have a few meanings and can be translated differently depending on what you actually mean. So, if you mean a moment in time (my job is hard but I am doing it till this very moment of time) - you translate it "до сих пор". But if you use this word as a synonym to the word "nevertheless" - translate it as "тем не менее".

9. Independently of how clever you are, I think that in this case you have done a fatal mistake =

- Независимо от того, насколько ты умен/умна , я думаю, в этом случае ты допустил/допустила фатальную ошибку.
Or:
- Несмотря на весь твой недюжинный интеллект, я думаю, в этот раз ты совершил/совершила непростительный промах.

10 I don't remember whether we have referred to this issue = Ne pomniu, razgovarivali li mi ob etoi teme.

- Не помню, ссылались ли мы на эту тему...
Or:
- Не помню, упоминали ли мы об этом деле...

11. How often does this happens (i.e. the neighbor to wake up very early and play the violin)

A literal translation is: "Как часто это происходит?".
