    Darobats Vocabulary Thread

    Hello
I'm trying right now to learn 10 new words every day. Every 10th day I plan on testing myself on everything I've learned so far. I'll post the words here, and some sentances using them, and I'd appreciate it if you could correct the sentances when they're wrong. Thanks

    Направо - Смотри направо тебя!
    Налево - Смотри налево тебя!
    Посдно - Сейчас, это поздно.
Ранно - Мне это слишком ранно.
Вопрос - У меня есть вопрос.
Ответ - Я не знаю ответ.

    Thank you
    "Рано got only one н"
But, isn't the long form word Ранний? Also, then the masculine short form is ран?

Also, why would Ухо болит // Уши болят not be shortform? Or are they? Sorry, I'm confused.

And my last question: Whats aspect do you use for an imperative?

Ран(root) + ний (ending), that's why whe have 2 "н"s here. I have no idea what you mean with "the masculine short form is ран" this is наречие, if I understand correctly, it does not have genders.

Also, why would Ухо болит // Уши болят not be shortform? Or are they? Sorry, I'm confused.
I have no idea what is a shortform.

And my last question: Whats aspect do you use for an imperative?
no idea on what "imperative" neither. sorry.

Short form, as far as I know, is an adjective used to describe a temporary, or short term condition. Compare:
    больной болен
    больная больна
    больное больно
    больние больны
The short form is on the right

    Imperative is a command.
    Ешь пирог!
    Отвечай мне!
    Я знаю
    Что делаю
    Вилкою
    Пирогу

ok, thanks for explenation. As far as I understood:

    short forms:
    ухо больно // уши больны

about the imperative, still confusin (to give order to your уши to feel hurt?), but that's my try

    уху болеть! // ушам болеть!

No, theres no imperative there. Just when using the imperative which aspect do you use?
Отвечай на вопрос! - Answer the question!
Посмотри налево от тебя! - Look to your left!

The first one uses the imperfective aspect, while the second uses perfective. Why, and how do you know which to use?

Ok, now I got it, that's would be "совершенная и несовершенная формы глаголов".

Well, as far as I understand the second phrase can be in 2 forms

    Посмотри налево от себя (perfective)
    Смотреть налево от себя (imperfective)
The meaning is the same, but the first one is a mild form, like an offer, while the second is a command you would hear in the Army. Quite tough.

For ответить, I am not sure if perfective aspect even exists. You can say
    Отвечать на вопрос!
Which is a tougher command then the other variant.

It depends on context, Pioner translated it ithe imperfective "Смотри" was correct too

Imperfective imperative has a shade of straight order/command. I don't know the necessary rule.

    Or, "отвечай".
The above may contain Siberian words, idioms, usages, and ideas. Take care.

These sound strange to me, but they are gramatically correct.
    We ate a cow.
    I don't like to eat pig/boar/hog.
