I DO THINK YOU ARE A BIT STUPID, BUT NOT SO MUCH THAT YOU THINK THIS SENTENCE ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE! REALLY THE WHOLE THING LOOKS LIKE THE ENGLISH A FOREIGNER WOULD COME UP WITH!

I have to agree with Tatu here.

If you are translating this yourself then you need to take some English classes before you worry about translating any other languages.

If, on the other hand, you are secretly writing your own auto-translate program and posting its results here, then well done, it's not too bad!

Kwatts, the single biggest problem with your translations, as far as I can see, is that you try translating words rather then concepts.

The proper translation sequence should be as follows:

1) You read the text in the source language, making sure you understand it properly. This includes looking up any words/prases you are not sure you understand correctly. This also includes using dictionaries of the source language (NOT bilingual dictionaries).
2) Once you are sure you fully understand what the source text says, you say it in the target language.

You don't have to preserve the structure of the original sentences in your translation. You can split sentences, combine them etc. Don't care too much about words, care about concepts.

And TATY is absolutely right, the text has to be correct and sound natural in the target language. It must be idiomatic, i.e. use words, phrases and idioms in a way that is natural to native speakers of language.

One example: "hemotherapy treament which was associated with (her) breast cancer".

Look at this sentence again. If you were reading a news item and someone said that a certain type of treatment is associated with such and such desease, what would it communicate to you? I bet you would be puzzled or even understand it incorrectly. The Russian, on the other hand, is crystal clear. It means that she had treatment for her cancer.

It is probably true that Lingvo or Multitran or whatever you use doesn't translate "в связи с" as "for", but as I said, you don't want to translate words. You translate CONCEPTS.

You translated друг as friend, when it can meen that, but also boyfriend, and Mr. Martinez is her boyfriend.

A big tip,

Only use online translators for single words... or not at all. Buy a good big fat dictionary, like the Oxford Russian-English dictionary. You can get a massive fat edition.

The best way to learn grammar and vocab is if you take the time to sit down and translate things yourself, and not resort to online translators.

Anyway, here is a reasonably good translation I did of the first paragraph.

I hadn't even heard of her untill i was 18 and i went to australia and someone was like "Oh u know kylie mingue is gunna be doing blah blah whatever whatever" and i was like, uhm who the hell is kylie minogue? And everyone was shocked in disbelief that i didnt know who she was.

I know shes famous in australia, but as far as i know, she doesnt get any air time on the radio or TV here in america. How did u know about her kwatts?

How many other americans know about her? Im assuming shes probly famous in europe though? right?

She had a hit in America a couple of years ago I believe. But generally she isn't famous in America.

She is very big here in the UK, where she lives, and has had a career spanning from the mid-80s.

I agree that maybe my choice of words is not correct. I translated the word "намерена" as "intending" but maybe it should be "planning". I just did not think "намерена" = "planning". If somebody can think of a better word, please let me know.

Also I added the word "her" into the sentence to make it sound more natural.

Kylie Minogue is planning to start working on her new album.

Edit: Oops, my mistake. The sentence is not gramatically correct. I forgot the "IS" in my original sentence. That was just a TYPO!!!

I agree, the sentence sounds a bit unnatural. The words "which was" are superfluous in English. Also I translated the word "курс" to "treatment" rather than "course". Maybe there is a better word, but I think the meaning is correct.

Speak for youself, barky! Everybody I know has heard of Kylie. Do you listen to modern music? "In your eyes" was very popular here a year ago as well as "Can't get you out of my head". But if dance music isn't your taste, then you probably wouldn't have heard of her. Just don't say that "not really anyone knows about her".

up untill about 2 years ago, i watched A LOT of MTV, and listened to a lot of radio, and yes I listen to dance. Seattles dance station is 89.5 FM

No one here knows who kylie minogue is, my mom likes pop, she doesnt know her. Kylie minogue is never on TV, never on the radio, never on any billboards and never has any concerts here. She isnt famous in America. Sure some people know about her, but it doesnt make her well known.

Here are my versions... trying to convey the information, without being too literal... let me know if I goofed up.

Maybe the Russian text should not have used the word "курс".
