The difference is slight and hardly explainable - mainly stylistic. All mean the same - exactly what you want. I'd prefer "Мне жить - мне решать." It sounds more aphorism-like.

Though there is a ready-made aphorism: "Позвольте мне самому сделать свои ошибки." = "Let me make my errors myself."

Tattoo is popular enough among young Russians.
