Thread: Translation for tattoo please

Privet,

I want ''My life, my decisions'' on the inside of my left underarm in Russian.
Paul G. already translated it for me but I just want to be 100% sure before I do it
So if you guys could translate it for me would be awesome, I love Russia & Russians so much :P

All variants are possible so you can choose one is the best for you (or that one you like more than other))

Personally I like "Мне жить - мне решать" best out of the 3

Meaning is similar. Just sounds a bit different.

Does it matter if I mean my tattoo like this?: ''This is my life, I make my own decisions, I don't have to listen to you all.''?
Or can I just pick one?

I think someone could find a little difference in meanings, but i think it just sounds different, and it is personal choice what is best. I mean something sounds better than others. If you want to know my opinion - not a good idea to make a russian tattoo with this text, but it is mho. (i don;t like hieroglyphs as a tattoo as well or imagine i made a tattoo with "This is my life, I make my own decisions, I don't have to listen to you all".).

it might be translated in this sense: "Я сам решу, как мне жить" mmmm.... I'll resolve myself, how I'll live (IMHO)

The difference is slight and hardly explainable - mainly stylistic. All mean the same - exactly what you want. I'd prefer "Мне жить - мне решать." It sounds more aphorism-like.

Though there is a ready-made aphorism: "Позвольте мне самому сделать свои ошибки." = "Let me make my errors myself."

Tattoo is popular enough among young Russians.
