Thread: Need help translating this ... I understand most of this sentence but not entirely )

Все люди как люди, а мной правят эмоции и ассоциации. Яркие моменты остаются в памяти. Моменты и фотографии

Translates to :

All people are like people, and emotions and associations rule me. Bright moments remain in memory. Moments and photos.

I'm having trouble understanding the first part "All people are like people ???" ... that makes no sense for me. Please help translate.

Люди как люди is idiomatic, it is used to refer to people that do not stand out from others in any way, the ones that don't have anything extraordinary about them, broadly "normal" people. You can also think of it as "people who behave like people." There's a rather famous phrase that makes use of this idiom. Все люди как люди, а я королева. I think you can figure out what it means now without much problem, as well as answer your question.

Smth/Smb like Smth/Smb construct has the meaning 'Smth/Smb is an ordinary'.
I.e. 'other people are normal but I'm a something special'

I guess I can translate it freely like : Just like normal people I'm ruled by emotions and associations.
