maybe simple answer but what is this in Russian

I am looking for the word for a Tropical fish-tank how would this be written or what is the wording for this in Russian.

a tank for keeping tropical fish as pets in, very common in Western parts - no offence meant if no one keeps these in Russia

I think that I could answer this question if I knew what 'fishtank' means...

I don't think Darobat's version's correct because the word садок doesn't make much sense here.

the reason why I posted is that I cannot seem to find a meaningful equivalent of this that phrase yes I can get tropical fish . But as for the fish- tank < is there a similar word that would describe this ?

mishau, is fishtank slang for СИЗО?

Хм....the last two posts make Darobat's version correct. I never heard of садок before though.

I think that садок is something like a fishing rod and аквариум is a fish tank.

Ну это пусть американцы подтверждают. СИЗО means an interrogation cell.

I think that садок is something like a fishing rod and аквариум is a fish tank.
Ну возможно ты подумал о сачке, что тоже верно. Садок - от слова "сад", т.е. место где мы что-то выращиваем, разводим, держим и т.п.

    Forget садок, it's аквариум.

Whatever садок is, this word is rarely used. I thought it was a fish landing net used during fishing, but found in a dicitionary that it is a fish-well, fish-pond or a nurse-pond... Never heard it in this meaning...

I concur that садок is rarely used nowadays. It looks like Darobat mixed up садок with сачок and this has led to the confusion we have now.

As far as I'm aware, СИЗО stands for следственный изолятор.

Yep I will go for Aquarium that is the best anology it is not exactly an aquarium as that is a large scale version but Aquarium has a similar meaning

Thank You everyone If I want to add the types of fish do I have to convert them all to Russian or like Rock bands can I just name them and they are universal in name /
