Tipping in US with a bank card

Arriving in US I have opened a bank account in a local bank and got a debit card. When paying in a restaurant I signed a check adding to the basic sum the sum of tips and outlining the total sum. But next day when I checked my bank account online I saw that only the basic sum was withdrawn from my account but not the total sum. When the tips will be withdrawn from my account? The question stays because when I will leave the US I will close my account, so if anybody want get these tips they should do it before long. On the other hand I don't want to cheat these restaurants I would like to provide them these tips. What are the options to sort it out?

    The bill looked like this?
    Food: 9.99
    tip: 2.00
    total 11.99

Then your debit account should have been charged 11.99. I do not understand what you mean by "outlining the total sum".

But on second thought, "the next day" might not have been time enough for everything to come through. Give it a couple more days and it will probably come out right.

Yes. The last two lines I filled by hand. The bank has charged me only the ''Food'' 9.99. But not the total sum 11.99.

It usually doesn't take any more than 1-2 business days for it to reflect in your bank account (so if you went to this restaurant on a Friday night after the banks close, for example, then it might not appear until Tuesday of the next week).

Tips and credit/debit cards in restaurants and tips:

The total amount is charged to the card, at the end of the shift when "Batching out" the credit card service, tips are allocated.

Waitron screwed up. Keep an eye on your account. It's unlikely but perhaps a "skim"

Pro tip: Tip in cash. The Waitrons prefer that.
I'm easily amused late at night...

Yeah, I've checked my account again after 3 days and the tips sum was reflected on my account.

Well, may be it even also good for me while doing this way and not waring about pending transactions on my account.

    Coffeecup,

Make certain that the bank account card you have does not charge you a service charge every time you use card! If so, you will be paying anywhere from $2.00 to $5.00 a pop when you use your card. I just switched banks after 20 years because my bank wanted to charge me a $2.50 fee if I used my card at an ATM that was not their bank! No thank you!

So be careful and check your statement for hidden fees and if they do have those fees, make certain you know which are the right places to use the card to avoid them.
I only speak two languages, English and bad English.
