Relax. Don't worry, it isn't as bad in the U.S. as everyone says. You can still be a gentleman here without being sued. Trust me.

What is not acceptable is pinching women's bottoms, stalking them and peeping in their windows when they undress. That can get you in trouble. As it should be.

The reason I ask is because I was sitting on the bus and I said to my friend "don't be a woman" and then woman in front of us turned around as said "there are some people who would find that offensive, you know" LOL

Anyway, I thought it was a bit over the top....

Oh, and the sexes are NOT EQUAL!!!!! That is a fact. Rather, they both have positive and negative aspects, and I guess they all cancel eachother out in the end...

More offensive, than say, intruding into someone else's conversation, perhaps?!?!? What an assclown. You know, that type of meddling into other people's business is particularly common in Russia, and it always annoyed me beyond belief. It was so widespread back in the SU, a joke was born:

I agree, the woman comment is less offensive than intruding into someone's conversation. While your comment could at times be in poor taste I don't think it should offend anyone. The are so many worse things you could say. And I don't think you can get taken to court for opening a door for a woman although a woman did once scream at my father for opening the door for her.

Men and women are equall...in thinking. Physical proportions do not allow women do some things being done by men, I guess.
