    Language difficulty

    I'm no expert, but all of the information I have seen puts languages in categories according to their level of difficulty. The difficulty would probably be relevant to the student's native language though. So, a native speaker of German would find learning English easier than learning Arabic.

    For those who have English as their first language, the following is adopted as standard for the US Military language program:

    French, German, Spanish are among the easiest
    Russian, Korean, Arabic are among the tough ones
    Chinese Mandarin is at the top.

    I suppose it is all relative though. I believe that English has to be at the top of the difficult languages. I have grown up speaking it. I'm well educated. Yet, there are still very puzzling aspects of the language. I still have trouble with grammar and spelling and such. If it were an easy language, I don't think I would still have these problems after 37 years.

    Нельзя, потому что to agree - глагол. Образовать простую отрицательную форму нужно с помощью вспомогательного глагола to do. I do/did not agree. He/she does/did not agree.

    Lampada, так многие русские пишут, и я их не исправляю, это их дело. Но вот твой пост выглядит очень плохо Как будто ты исправила на "ввиду" и как будто так правильно.

    English, like German and other Nordic languages have little in common with latin (although English is closer to latin than German). French, Spanish, Italian and other romance languages are much closer to latin. If you look at the language tree you'll see that you'd want to learn Germanic if you want to "understand" English
