    Merry Christmas to all Orthodox believers!

    (How does the date work - is this still 2011 in the Orthodox calendar? If so, what is the actual date today according to this calendar?)

    The Orthodox Church uses Julian calendar. Every year they publish holidays in Gregorian calendar. Lots of people don't care how the Church does it. For example in 2101 the Orthodox Church will celebrate Christmas on January 8. (If we will still use Gregorian calendar)
    And yes, in Julian Calendar it is December 25 today.
