My point exactly. I was just going to say it differently though: How many Germans do you still see lobbing bombs at Volgograd?

Then my point is: how many Chechnens do you still see dropping bombs on Beslan? Or how many explosions in Beslan have you heard of since the siege of 2004?

Just make sure you don't fly Armenian Airlines....
This crash is terrible. This is what makes many people be afraid of flying.

Это просто мне так кажется, или в СНГ одна из худших историй воздушной безопасности в мире?

    Я не знаю

BTW, how would you say your sentence in English?
Does it only seem to me or the CIS countries have the worst history of air safety?

Well, what I meant to say was: ”Is it just me or does the CIS have one of the worst records of air saftey in the world"

What would be a better way to say it?

Я просто хотел узнать, как бы ты сказал это предложение на английском. Твоё предложение is fine.

The CIS is a huge area and has hundreds of flights everyday. In the past safety has been questionable.

You can't really generalise the whole area. On international flights into Europe and such they have to be up on safety. Like if Aeroflot were unsafe, they wouldn't be allowed to operate flights to say London. Internal flights are a different matter. But there are LOTS of internal flights. I've been on one. It was alright. Let's just say I've never seen bagage stored on empty rows of seats before.

When you're saying you've been on one internal flight - what do you mean? Do you mean that you've been on an internal flight provided by a Russian airline - that is to say, within Russia? I flew Aeroflot to London in 2004 and Aeroflot made a favorable impression on me, so I totally agree with you that airlines have to provide a high level of service to be allowed to operate external flights.
BTW, the A320 that crashed a few days ago belonged to the Armenian airline called "Armavia". Therefore, it was an external flight. Or do you mean that it was internal in terms of the CIS?

None. But the point is that it's in a region that has, and continues to, experienced quite a bit of turmoil and violent hostilities...it's the same reason you don't go to certain parts of some US cities after dark -- you're putting yourself in a really unsafe environment with no idea of what you're doing. That was my point.

    Exactly.

Tenna is probably some 16 year old blonde girl from Denmark. I really dislike hysteria over travelling to "unsafe" places. Like when I was in Russia some of my friends wouldn't take an internal flight because they thought it was unsafe. It may be more unsafe than British Airways, but it doesn't mean it's going crash.

I went to Moscow during the period of terrorists attacks in 2004. It didn't bother me much. But the South Caucuses is dangerous. Any foreign place is dangerous for a novice traveller. Tenna comes across as not very travel savy.

Also I think visiting Beslan because of what happened is innapropriate.

A friend who travelled in the Caucasus, who is British told me the police were really friendly to him. Much more so than the ones in Moscow and Petersburg.

I wonder where's next on Tenna's travel itinerary?

    Iraq
    Gaza Strip
    West Bank
    Congo
    Colombia

Going anywhere to Russia is dangerous. Beslan if predominantely Russian, she wouldn't be targeted any more than if she was in Kazan. Are people here still afraid of going to New York after what happened on Sept. 2001?

    That's not true.

I don't think all of Russia is dangerous. Maybe it's MORE dangerous than other places. It's not Switzerland. I think away from the Caucasus it's fine. Like my university lets us go to Volgograd. If it was dangerous they wouldn't let us go.

And Tenna Lady, the thing in London was the first fatal terrorist attack here for about 10 years.

Chechnya, and parts of surrounding areas are effectively a war zone.

    How old are you anyway?

Tell that to the terrorists, if they find out you are Danish they will use you as an example... That is why I canceled my planned trip to the Kashmir region of Pakistan this year (I am Norwegian)
