    Invitation for Russian penpal

Hi, my name is Steve. I'm 31 years old, English, but living in Dublin, Ireland.

One of my ambitions is to read "Crime and Punishment" in the original language. (I had a similar ambition for Kafka's "Transformation", which I achieved). I'm a long, long way off being able to do this, having just about learnt the alphabet and how to count to 10.

If any Russian thinks they might be able to give me a little encouragement and help from time to time in getting on top of their language please let me know. I think the best person would be someone who already can speak/write English sentences, but would like some help improving.

General topics that interest me are literature, films, classical music, history & science, though I'm certainly not an expert in any of the areas.

I am actually neither Russian nor desiring to help you, as I am a self-centered biznatch. But I will wish you good luck in your endeavor.

    Good luck in your endeavor!

What is meaning of word 'biznatch'?

Oh, and "Transformation" better be a hell of a lot better in German than it is in English, because I found it to be so boring...

Pretty pictures come to mind about the story though.

Hi! My name's Irene. I'm 23. I'm from Russia. I've been studying English for more than 10 years. I'd like to improve my knowledge of it. I'd be grateful if you could help me. And I can help you to know everything about my native tongue.
If you are interested in my proposition, please, write:

    Hope for your reply.
I'm eager to find a pen-pal from an English speaking country in order to improve my language and to help you study Russian.

    Hi, Kate!

You will have to give him your e-mail address. There are many guests visiting the penpal section who leave a nice message(Steve's message is one of the most nicely-written guest messages I've seen in a long time) but don't leave their e-mail addy and never come back(at least it seems that way). I would suggest it is a lost cause. What's all the hype about Steve and Afshin anyway? Look at poor Murmillo over there. Awww.

Hm. Never come to this place. Strikes me as amazing that Pravit seriously contributes to a thread which includes, gasp, this line:

    Hope for your reply.

    Nay, mats jar tripes
    Jasper is my Tartan
    I am a trans-Jert spy
    Jerpty Samaritans

    Hello Pravit!

May be you are right. I have to leave him my e-mail adress, but what if I don't want everybody to know it. And Steve even didn't leave his own.

And thanks for the reply. You have proved that it's not a good idea to look for a pen-friend in the internet. Steve really doesn't seem to be interested!

The best way out is to go to England of the USA, make friends there and then communicate with them via e-mails.

And by the way what happened to this poor Murmillo?

    Kate.

    Hello Kate!

If you can't go to the US or UK for some reason, you can always try this website, although many of the people there are rather boring: http://www.penpal.net/

You know, I have nothing to do with my time, so I wrote a silly little story about poor Murmillo, but what if Murmillo read it? Anyhow, Murmillo, seeming like a very nice fellow, posted earlier asking for a penpal and nobody answered his thread! If you look, it only got 19 views. While Steve here gets 15 replies and around 300 views! How unfair!

Quite right, mate. Up to now nobody wrote me.
I am afraid my french will remain the same for a long time ...

    Thanks for your support.

That's probably because there's not much french speaking people here. You can go to french.about.com, AFAIK they have a pen-pal section on the forum too, and they also have a chat.
