Your sentence explains by itself what I just wrote above and "J'avais trois mois..." is what you should write.

Okay, well here are the English sentences..

My mother expected that the weather would be cool (as in refreshing), and so it wasn't what she had expected. (I used different words for expected)

After, I strolled along the boardwalk and I climbed up the mountain.
