"build, operate and transfer". The whole phrase acts as an adjective.

    Like I might say.

I wrote my essay for school, but it was a cut and paste job. (e.g. I cut and pasted out of wikipedia or something).

"Cut and paste" is an expression, and in my sentence functions as an adjective.

maybe it'd be easier for you to understand it if I write it as build-operate-and-transfer model?

I agree with the previous two posts. It needs to be hyphenated or put in inverted commas, or maybe italic. This is technically non-standard English, by the way.

Er... well... I guess I suspected it was kinda like that. I had come upon similar constructions before. But the thing is I'm translating some text but I'm too lazy/don't have the required imagination to say the damn sentence in Russian. We don't have such awkward constructions in Russian Okay, I'll think about it again later and hopefully come up with something.

Anyway, thanks for your contribution, folks.

The expression is "copy and paste" It'd be an irreparable calamity if you could cut things from wikipedia, TATY, 'cause you would simply exhaust the entire encyclopedia by your regular "borrowings" for your homework
