Would you tell me about the following? What is the English equivalent of Russian phrase: "Но не тут-то было!"

A context:
"Я собирался отдохнуть после работы... Но не тут-то было! Выяснилось, что..."

By the way, how does it spell correct (with hyphen or not): "тут то" or "тут-то"? I think, that the version with hypen is correct? It likes me more than the other.

"It likes me more than the other."? That's funny for me to read. Perhaps you mean: "I like it more than the other." The way to say this in english is different than Russian.

English: I like eggs.

Russian: мне нравится яйца.
(Literally: To me is likable eggs)

"It likes me more than the other."? That's funny for me to read. Perhaps you mean: "I like it more than the other." The way to say this in english is different than Russian.

English: I like eggs.

Russian: мне нравятся яйца.
(Literally: To me is likable eggs)

Я люблю [есть] яйца. (вообще) или Мне нравятся яйца. (в конкретной ситуации).

Be careful though: Яйца in Russian can also mean (man's) balls

Вряд ли Platinum попадёт в ситуацию, где не поймут, какие яйца он имеет в виду))) Тем более, что анатомический термин - яичко, а "яйцо" в этом значении - это ой насколько сниженный вариант.)

Помню, когда немецкий учила, просили быть очень осторожной с артиклями. И переводить "У него есть секретарша" как Er hat eine Sekret

Так не говорят. Likable это обычно сказано о человеке.

It's just another way of saying: No matter how hard you try..." I hope you understand this.
