Thread: Fast friend

The first thought, which popped in my head when I met the expression (fast friend), was, 'Wow... It's about Estonian' Is this expression in use now? Do you have the same double meaning feelings of the expression?

This expression is still used but not in everyday conversation in America. It means a true, loyal friend. No double meanings.

I've never heard "fast friend" before. If I heard it I'd think it'd be a friend who might pull a fast one on you.

I think it is a pre 1960's term. I've read it in literature. But for the real story maybe somebody will do a web search (sorry, I'm too lazy today)

That's "fast" as in "Lasting/ Permanent/ Fixed in place", rather than a synonym of "Quick".
