    Learning Russian fast

I would like to discuss what learning media and method works best for you (consider time and money). For example, it could be a course on a CD or an online course with short attention span and each lesson taking 20 minutes for 20 bucks, or it could be a more comprehensive grammar book that you study on your own (35 bucks) or with a teacher (100 bucks). Do you like a self-paced course or need some sort of guidance, like a syllabus or an instructor?

I think the best way is to mix all of those methods. But I definitely prefer to pace myself.

well I'm all over the board... I like to surf around the internet, and use promt.ru to look up words...I also like to watch russian tv. A favorite is just asking my wife what this or that word means....I've been to ukraine, and that helped too.

I take my electronic devices like the computer monitor and set the language setting on the control to russian...thats always good for a word or two...

I also do the pimsleur courses on cd and textbook...occasionally go to a russian chat room.

Classes would be so cool, and we have a great foreign language institute here....but, that's a bit costly.

Eh, you download PalTalk, then you search around International rooms until you find something like "Mesto dla druzei i talantov." Then you go in and laugh at tonedeaf Russians. Actually, I don't know if the room exists anymore, but it was fun while it lasted.

Time-honored classics like "Я спросил у ясеня" are on the karaoke machines in China?

isn't that the one out of с лёгким паром (the bit with the guitar)? It's quite nice.

Umm no I only found about 5 Russian songs in my local bar but don't recognise any of them. Tons of Chinese, Korean, English, even a bit of Japanese and Thai! But hardly any Russian
