    A few names

After going through what I could find on the board, Net, and translating myself, these are a few names I'm trying to Russianize. I'm mostly skeptical on Dayna (my sister tells me from her middle school Russian class that her name is "Ah-nya").

    Code:
    Candy канди
    Patrick Патрик/Патрикей
    Dayna дайна
    Randy панди
    Ricky пыки
    Angelina Ангелина
    Lillian лыллиан
    Jessica Джессика
    Jake/Jacob Яков
    Jakie/Jacob Яков
    Shyla шайла
    Alex Алекс
    Jessica джэссика
    Anthony Антон/Энтони
    Thanks for lookin'!

Do you want to translate these names into Russian or fit Russian analogs to them?

    [s:2dfw5tre]Jakie/Jacob Яков[/s:2dfw5tre]
    Shyla - Шайла
    Alex - Алекс (rus. Александр/Саша)
    [s:2dfw5tre]Jessica - Джессика[/s:2dfw5tre]

Оно вроде бы и пишется по-другому: Sheila.

    Re: A few names

@Cocos: Russian analogs would be awesome, but my Internet searching led me to think there were none for some of the names mentioned.

@gRomoZeka : appreciate you taking the time.

Yes, her name is Shyla, but is Sheila the Russian equiv?

    Thanks.

Not Shyla nor Sheila have Russian equivalents. There was just a bit of confusion among the Russian native speakers regarding how to trasliterate it correctly (Russians are more familiar with the name Sheila, while Shyla sounds strange).

Gromozeka is a melancholic character created by Soviet SF writer Bulychev. In the popular cartoon he's a big multihanded humanoid creature, in the original books he looked more like an octopus.

I think he needs some Zoloft - gonna look into other episodes, he's quite unique.

There's a version with English subtitles in 7 parts. Part 1:

Thanks! I was also wondering about your name as there's a 2009 title for Gromozeka on IMDb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1273803/ and I didn't know if you had any connection with that project.
I only speak two languages, English and bad English.

Я думаю, Громозека это знает. Дело в том, что по-русски совершенно нормально звучит "Есть (=существует) версия с английскими субтитрами в семи частях." Думаю, именно это она и хотела сказать. А именно:
    There's (=exists) a version with English subtitles in 7 parts. [Here's the] Part 1.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

Exactly! Thanks, Olya. I wanted to say "Этот мультфильм есть с английскими субтитрами" (as opposed to the previous version without them).
Still I thank TATY and rockzmom for corrections.

Nope, I didn't even know about that project. This nick is not terribly original, I'm afraid, so you'll probably see it again somewhere.
