    Talking Dictionary

I have seen a Collins talking dictionary which sounds very interesting, it is cotained on CD Rom and gives the pronunciation of words along with the spellings. Has anyone experience of these ? It sounds like the answer to a maidens prayer.

    Cheers

No, I haven't. I remember translate.ru had a whole bunch of dictionary thingies, but I never really liked the electronic dictionaries anyway. Lingvo is supposed to be super super good.

Pronunciation is the thing, studying at home alone is not the ideal situation. Watching Russian TV may help but they do seem to talk very fast

I have a Etaco Partner X-5 which cost $450. It worked perfect when I was in Russia to communicate. The keyboard is in English and Russian. We just typed back and forth and let it translate. It's about 90% good for translating and it also speaks anything in English you type, but will only speak in Russian the pre-programmed phrases. I would not recommend a talking dictionary to learn how to speak Russian. A set of tapes would be much better.
