Очень просто
Для поддержания ПРАВИЛ форума. Любое удаление поста или темы должно быть объяснено и человек отправлен к пункту правил, иначе непонятно за что выдали люлей. Вам неоднократно говорили, что люди не понимают за что их наказали, а вы ничего не сделали чтобы это исправить. Может быть вы не понимаете зачем нужен модератор?

Здесь цензуры не много и не мало, она просто однобока. И это не исправить.
Русский язык здесь просто продаётся. Но никто не обещал любить страну этого языка. Поэтому в разделе Политика приоритет у американских взглядов на политику.
Если бы здесь было реальное самомодерирование, то толку было бы больше.

Speaking for myself, I did not see Doomer's post about Russian children abused in the US. If it was just a news article and an opening for discussion, it would not offend me really, although I am far from convinced that only the US abuses children...

However, I do not know what words Doomer used to introduce his topic. Maybe the words he used were provoking or offensive?

Personally, I do not think topics should be off limits because they are "controversial." But I do think that personal attacks should be moderated, because otherwise this forum will quickly devolve into a drunken tavern brawl where people are yelling "F*CK YOU!!!!!" "NO, F*CK YOU!!!!"

The name calling, personal attacks, and stalking is what concerns me. I do not agree with everyone's views about gay rights, for example, but that disagreement stays in the Sochi thread for me. I do not follow the people who disagreed with me onto other threads and attack them there to get even. This has, however, happened to me. On more than one occasion.

Obviously Lampada cannot get inside people's heads and make them stop being jerks. But she can moderate them when they attack other members of the forum, harass and stalk other members of the forum, or engage in character assassination.

On several occasions, people who read my blog have brought it up in completely unrelated threads and used it negatively against me. One individual actually tried to imply that I am somehow single handedly responsible for the poor quality of TV in Russia, ostensibly because I worked on a Dating Game show in the 1990's. That was one of the insults Lampada censored.

I've also seen a lot of very childish name calling, personal attacks and insults and so on. I would expect better behavior from adults, but it appears that some people cannot control their tempers and cannot separate the issue from the person.

I find the stalking behavior most disturbing of all. There are people on this forum who I must admit I am not especially fond of, but I do not follow them to different threads and attack them to "get even". What is the point? To frighten and harass someone and force them to leave, I suspect.

On the other hand, I think I can guess why Doomer's topic (about people giving away their adopted children to strangers as though they were unwanted kittens!) was deleted. It only took me a few minutes to find the Reuters news story that he was referring to, and indeed it's full of VERY disturbing details -- however, these horrible cases represent a tiny fraction of the total number of foreign children adopted by Americans each year, and it's far from clear that America is significantly worse than other countries when it comes to the abuse of adopted children. So I can see why out moderator(s) might have considered the thread to be a potential magnet for trolls and flames.

By the way, you can Google for "Nicole and Calvin Eason" if you want to read the story; it's quite awful, with "flawed" kids from Russia, China, Guatemala, Liberia, and other countries being passed from home to home like secondhand furniture. And I found myself wondering how the reporters managed to restrain themselves from beating these scumbag "adoptive parents" to death with a shovel.

I do not want to engage in a personal attack on anyone here. But I will say that ever since I disagreed with Doomer about gay rights, he stalked me from thread to thread and disagreed with every comment I made and also said some unkind things to me personally. I do not know what Master Admin's reasons were for banning him, but you should know it was Master Admin who did it, and not Lampada. This was discussed in the general chat a couple days ago, so anyone can look it up if they care to scroll back that far.

As for me, I do not think anyone was being unfairly treated. Personal attacks, stalking, harassing, and name-calling are not needed here!
It's one thing to disagree on a controversial topic. It's quite another thing to go after an individual and bully them constantly.

What happens in the Sochi thread, should STAY in the Sochi thread!

Personally, I think you do a fine job representing Russians and westerners alike.
It was just a thought, since some people had suggested that we needed a moderator in Russia as well.
As for myself, I really have no complaints.

Форуму объективно нужны русскоязычные помощники, которые из идеалистических соображений хотят помогать иностранцам в изучении языка. Но у идеалистов есть одно "нехорошее" качество: они не стерпят плевки в свой адрес и в адрес своей страны

.... В этой же теме можно будет писать "последнее прости" в случае добровольного ухода с форума.

Похоже на то. Я, например, постоянно наблюдаю людей, самым жестким и нецензурным образом высказывающихся в интернете о власти и о Путине лично, пока никого черные воронки не забрали.
Единственное, неприятности карьерного характера могут коснуться людей, работающих на государство, да и то, определенного положения.

Однако, назначать политически ангажированного человека в модераторы не самая хорошая идея, неважно, за какую сторону он выступает.

Меня бы устроил и модератор с Украины, если бы мы с ним были "одной крови". Например, Громозека. Она сейчас не пишет на форуме, но мне очень нравились её взгляды, формулировки, чувство юмора и т.д. Но просить её вернуться не буду, так как тут не будет для неё уютной жизни. Она наверное и убежала отсюда, чтобы отдохнуть.

Да модератору и ни к чему "искренне высказывать". Он может делать это с другого аккаунта, например. А с основного просто модерировать.

So, I am trying to understand what is causing this division in the forum, because I do not want to do anything which would divide us.

I bring up political topics here sometimes because I am very interested in the Russian perspective. Of course we do not always agree. I was reluctant for a long time to even discuss gay rights, for example, because I knew we would disagree. But in my heart, I hoped to find some way to understand each other and sometimes disagreements can lead to understanding, and so I plunged ahead.

If political discussions are causing a division in the forum, I will refrain.

I do not expect us to always find agreement. But I did think we could all talk about it civilly.

I understand that my views on gay rights can be just as offensive to some Russians, as their views can be to me. I already stopped discussing that topic about a week ago. It is a very difficult subject and feelings are strong on both sides.

But I am trying to understand how a topic such as relations between our countries could be offensive. Personally, I blame America for this new "cold war" more than I blame Russia. So when I posted the topic about the cold war, it was actually an attempt to make up for the discussion about gay rights.

Anyway, I can certainly refrain from discussing politics if it is dividing people here. That was never my intent.
