Perhaps you mean: 'I have always wondered how one makes their avatar have good resolution with such a small file size'.

In that case, if you have Photoshop, just before you save it with .JPEG settings that pop up, you must drag the bar leftwards so it goes down from Maximum to High until just before you see the quality start to degrade, this differs from size to size. (And also, an image with more colours will have a bigger file size than one with just a few).

    And then...

You use a .JPEG 'crunching' program that some websites offer for free.

    Like this one:

    http://www.spinwave.com/crunchers.html

(Or a better one if anyone knows one...)

After you see it 'crunched', right click on the one that has the highest percentage saved, then save it into your files and upload wherever you wanted it.

Also, I think you can beat the file-size limit by posting your avatar somewhere else (like imageshack) and linking to it, rather than uploading it to MR.
Заранее благодарю всех за исправление ошибок в моём русском.

Oh, yes I meant the size of the picture...
    Thank you.
I know what you mean about Photoshop. But, in fact, whatever I did with Photoshop the picture suffer a lot because of the demanded size - 90x90 pxl and less than six Kb. Every picture loses its quality at all.
I upload mine from photobucket .com as well.

Seems like there is nothing more to do but to leave it as it is.
    Thank you guys anyway.

What do you mean, there is a problem with your Photoshop that makes the images loose quality? Don't adjust the settings to make the size 6kb within the program, it will look horrible, upload it the way Barmaley suggested.

If you just mean you can't upload because of the size restrictions, as Barmaley said, you don't need to, you can upload an image bigger than the limit.

Show us the image you wanted to upload, it can't have been that big a file size unless it's animated. But the guy with the McDonald's gif uploaded his avatar fine and it's 14kb.

By the way, Photobucket sometimes screws around with images and doesn't upload them properly even though they are under the limit. If that happens, use: http://imageshack.us/ but remember to bookmark the page because it's not like Photobucket where you have an account.
