    Pronunciation woes

Does anyone know of a site dealing with pronunciation of the Russian alphabet - specifically where my tongue and such should be? I agonized over ш and щ until someone (I forget who) said that for ш I should pull my tongue back in my mouth to make the "sh" sound. Anything like that would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Just do a Google Search for Russian alphabet and take your pick!!

Thanks for the help DDT, but I'm looking for more of a phonetic type page - like "put your tongue here and do this and that..." etc. Anyone know of a page like that? I've googled my rear off and can't find what I want.

    Maybe a book might help?

The best way is get someone (professional) to tell you and show you...

I would advise textbooks with CD's or cassettes. They are not too expensive.

The textbooks give you the rough English equivalents but if you have problems with specific sounds, ask here. Just alphabet pronunciation may not be enough, as with any language - combinations are important.

Don't know of a page or free resource, but I broke down and bought "Pronounce It Perfectly in Russian" which gives you all those detailed tongue instructions It's a small book, comes with cassettes (unfortunately no CDs ) Covers practically every aspect of how to pronounce Russian, letters, words, the intonation in sentences, etc. I really find it helpful and it was not expensive (too lazy right now to post Amazon link but you could find it.)

I found that this site has a great alphabet page, with downloadable sound files. At this moment, i am listening to the complete alphabet.

    Here is the link

you can either listen to each letter individually, or you can listen to the complete alphabet here. (the link is at the bottom, under the letters )
