    с + genitive, с + accusative, с + intstrumental

Can anybody tell me if this is correct?
These examples were taken from my dictionary so I know they are right.

Use "c" + acc when comparing two objects.
    Яйцо размером с яблоко
An egg the size of an apple (accusative)

Use "c" + gen when taking from an object.
    сорвать с дерева.
To pluck from a tree (genitive)

Use "c" + inst when using an object as an instrument.
    Я написал с ручкой.
I wrote with a pen (instrumental)

    Here are my examples
The story was the size of a book.
    История была размером с книгу.

I tore pages from the book.
    Я отрывал страницы с книги.

I hit him with a book.
    Я поражал его с книгой.

    Are my examples correct?
    Thanks in advance.

    Re: с + genitive, с + accusative, с + intstrumental

Я написал ручкой - lit. I wrote by pen like I came by train (instrumental, no need preposition here)
Я иду с ручкой - you cannot say I am going by pen, so here is c + instrumental.

I tore pages from the book.
Я вырывал, (prefix вы- means out,) страницы из книги - книга is not the same object like a дерево, you are tearing pages from "inside" a book but if there are some objects "outside" the book such as stikers on a book you отрываешь наклейки с книги.

I hit him with a book.
    Я поражал его с книгой.
Я ударил/стукнул его книгой - lit. I hit him by book, see above, you can use "с книгой" if you had a book and you (both) hit him/bumped into him - я ударил его с книгой - natives, i know that it sounds a bit wierd without context but it is possible in spoken language.

    Thanks all.

    So you can say
    Ты отрываешь наклейки с книги.
You are pulling stickers from (the outside of) the book.

    And you can say
    я иду с книгой/ручкой в руке
    I go with a book/pen in hand.

Can you give an example where you would use "с книгу"?
    Can you say
Я писал историю размером с книгу.
I wrote a story the size of a book.

Я вижу яйцо размером с яблоко.
I see an egg the size of an apple.

    Correct.
Can you give an example where you would use "с книгу"?
    Легко. Кошка размером с книгу.
    Can you say
Я писал историю размером с книгу.
I wrote a story the size of a book.
Я написал... (perf. verb, the action has finished)
История means a short story, an event which happened to somebody and told to another person. I guess you mean story like a big novel - повесть, повесть could be толщиной/размером/объёмом с книгу.
Я вижу яйцо размером с яблоко.
I see an egg the size of an apple.
    Correct.

a couple other uses of c.... Saying where you are from if the loction is a word that uses the HA pronoun. example

ya c ukrain. c +gen case there. That basically replaces iz for locations that use na as their pronoun instead of B. I also noticed that a lot of people used C anyway when asking me. vy c ameriki? I guess its not grammatically correct but a number of times it came up. Maybe it was a local thing or colloqiual speech.

Also, movement with motion verbs away from an object using c+gen. Same instance as above. If the object uses na, when you are moving away from it you say c instead of iz.

Time expressions and compound plural personal pronouns

Also, when talking about time, с + gen. means "from" that time, the oppostie of "до" + gen., "until":

Открыт с семи часов до двадцати трёх часов.
    Open from 7:00 to 23:00.

and that c + inst. is used for the equivalent of phrases like "My friends and I":

Мы с друзьями (not "Я и друзья") смотрим телевизор.
We with friends (not "I and friends") are watching television.
    "Музыка, всюду музыка.
    Линия перегружена.
    Пространство между нами сжимается.
    Все, что можно уже нарушено."
