Does it mean the same as "Ничему не понимаю"?

Ничего непонятно = ничего не понимаю.

"Nothing is understood".
понятно is a краткая форма причастия: понятный .
The reason why is ничего and not ничто is because they use genetive of negation.

Ничего не понятно, но фотка прикольная.
=> Nothing is clear, but the picture is cool.
