My Russian textbook at the end of every chapter has a passage which you have to translate into Russian and then check your answer with the one at the back of the book. I'm getting better at this, I don't usually make the same mistake twice!
The only exception is translating "I like". e.g. "I like mushrooms", I like skiiing". Whenever I use "я люблю" the book uses "мне нравится" and vice versa. What's the rule here? Or are they really interchangeable and I am just unlucky always picking the wrong one?
In German you are only supposed to use "ich liebe" when talking about people but it seems that this is not the case with Russian.
