Do you mean what cases "верхом" and "верха" are in?

    (c) верхом - instrumental
    (без) верха - genitive

This is an easy one to remember:

    с + instrumental means 'with'
без is ALWAYS followed by the genitive case, and means 'without'

What about the case of "с вокзала"? Does it mean when "c" is used to mean from, then it is +gen?

Yes, it means "from (the station)", and it's genitive, the same as in "нет/без вокзала (no/without station)"

С means from (usually) obscure places or places that are "general" or otherwise could take place in a number of settings or harder to I don't know? Describe?

    С Войны from war
    С Работы from work
    С Детства from (since) childhood

War, work, are hard if not impossible to generalize. War and work can take place anywhere, over any number of fields, fronts, nations, buildings etc...

Childhood is pretty much the same, you can't really draw a line bordering where childhood starts or stops.

I'm not sure about other words like С дерева, с вокзала, с балкона because its pretty easy to tell one tree, station, or balcony from another. I guess you have to learn them as you find them.
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

"C/co" can also mean "from the top/surface of something" as opposed to "из" ("from within"):
    я упал с дерева
    с него слетела шляпа
    etc.

It's still "c". Did you have any other preposition in mind?

Well, just to be a pain in the butt, sometimes the preposition с can be used with accusative in the meaning "approximately"

яблоко с кулак "an apple about the size of your fist"

I have studied Russian since... um.... 1977, and it still throws me curves. Of course, any language you study as a non-native can always surprise you.
