Thread: Verbs of motion - prefixes

Could anyone kindly recommend a good resource on this topic for me.

I need to understand e.g. дойти, пройти, подойти - and what prepositions to use with them. Just the main ones....

Part of that endeavor will require learning to feel for the prepositions themselves, and part will require learning pairings with verb prefixes. Verb prefixes add a motion-meaning, that naturally matches a corresponding preposition of the same meaning—but... The corresponding preposition is not the only preposition that can appear with the verb. For instance you could:
выйти во вдор из дома
"Мы только что подошли из-за угла."

Generally:
до- > до
про- > через, мимо
под- > к

Not to mention the fact that the verbs of motions each can have non-spacial meanings, which no longer really use the spacial relations of the prepositions
