1. Марья глядела на всех со смешной улыбкой, как бы не видя их.

4. Я вчера разбилась на лестнице, а теперь у меня болят нога и зад.
I hurt myself on the stairs yesterday, and now my leg and hip hurt.
5. Ты не запоминаешь, как хорошенькую девушку зовут?
Do you remember what the pretty girl's name was?
6. Автобус столкнулся с машиной, вызывающий смерти трёх людей.
The bus crashed into a car, causing the deaths of three people.

I would not correct the original sentence. IMO, it's fine.
Some say that the following version's correct too.
....у меня болИт нога и бедро.

It sounds pretty good to me. Though it is not gramatically correct!

бедро = hip
зад = ass

You don't need за here. In Russian, the verb ухаживать is normally used when you're talking about animals or sick people.

It's probably звали for the same reason that in the future tense it is зовут, that reason however I do not know.

Nope, 'a' doesn't fit here. When we talk about smb's name, we refer to it using plural verbs. Take a look:

Его зовУТ Джордж. His name is George.
Его зваЛИ Джордж. His name was George.
Как тебя зовУТ? What is your name?

One more thing, this may be useful...


In English you say 'My name is...' whereas in Russian you do not say 'Мое имя ...', except for some special occasions where this is relevant... You say sth like 'They call me...' The key word here is THEY. This word stands for the whole group of 'the others' who use your name to refer to you. You say зовУТ just in order to state that all the others call you, say, George, not just one person or two.
That's why зовут, звали.

The original English sentence seems a bit awkward. Could it be Harry rather than Hurry? Then I would translate it like this:
Гарри, присмотри за ребёнком минуту.

Разбилась is too strong a word, it could actually mean death (Она упала из окна и разбилась насмерть). You could say ударилась, ушиблась, упала, споткнулась instead. Зад is butt or bottom...

Doesn't глядеть за mean to look after at least colloquially?

How can that be, on this website it says you need за after ухаживать ???
They give these examples:
ухаживать за больным. To take care of a sick person
ухаживать за обувью. To take care of one's shoes

Yeah but usually пригрядеть/присмотреть.
And it means to keep an eye on somebody as well.
Мама: Коля, присмотри за сестрой, я схожу в магазин за водкой папе.

He meant the other "за": Поторопись, поухаживай за ребёнком за минутку!

It's an impersonal construct. What is meant is how "they" call the girl, by "they" meaning the rest of the world. BTW зовут is in the present tense.
