at the same time — в то же время
in the same place — в том же месте

Почему "same time" - в то, и "same place" - в том. Какие падежи они? Извините, что бы спрошу простой вопрос.
(Why is same time is "в то", and same place is "в том"? Which cases are they in? Please excuse me for asking such a silly question.)

Speaknig about time, we use an accusative: в разное время, в своё время, в наше время, в настоящее время. All they answer the question "когда?"

Speaknig about a place, we use a prepositional case: в тихом месте, в другом месте, на новом месте, на своём месте. All they answer the question "где?"

I can't say if there is any logic in it, maybe you should just remember it.

I don't need to know the logic for this. I just wanted to know the difference in the 2 expressions, and you made it very clear.

However, in English, we sometimes use at the same time and at the same place too. Like the expression, see you again same time, same place.

You can use, by the way, время with a prepositional case, too. For example, "Я сел в машину времени, нажал кнопку и оказался в другом времени". But in this case, it means "я оказался где".

"я оказался где". Where I found myself.

Thanks, that was quite close. I missed the time machine part. Wish I have one now so I could travel back in time and start learning Russian earlier.

It would, but the accusative case is тот, not то.

tohca, день is not neuter, but masculine, so the accusative case is тот, not то.

Меня бы смутил такой ответ. С формулировкой "я думаю" (когда ответ однозначный и сомневаться особо нечего) и с утвердительным ответом на вариант с ошибкой, пусть даже и исправленной.
