Thread: List of emotes, please check my grammar

I use these "emotes" in a computer game to describe what my character is doing to other players. Can you tell me if it's all correct? I used different dictionaries and google translate, but I want to be sure.

I also wasn't sure how to translate two things from English to Russian, so I highlighted those that I didn't translate

General emotes:


оглядывается кругом - looks around
она скрещивает руки - folds arms
кивает головой - nods
качает головой - shakes head
нахмурится - frowns
наблюдает поступки безучастно - observes the ongoings indifferently
улыбается бледно - smiles faintly
гримасничает - grimace
шепчет - whispers
моргает - winks
laces her shoes -
rubs her hands together to warm up -
shivers from the cold - дрожит из холода
она, кажется, слушает внимательно - she seems to be listening attentively

Oh, I meant "with a heavy/weird/foreign accent", since I use it before my character says something...as in

*сильным акцентом* привет!

I would've conjugated the words themselves for the accent marks (as I used to do when I was role-playing in English) but I'm afraid that would just lead to misunderstandings, plus I should work on correct spelling as a student...

Some more proposals on style improvement.

озирается - looks around
кивает - nods
безучастно наблюдает за происходящим - observes the ongoings indifferently
гримасничает - grimace
шепчет - whispers
моргает - blinks (подмигивает - gives a wink to smb.)
laces her shoes - шнурует обувь (ботинки is not really a word from fantasy lexicon)
фыркает - chuckles
(кажется,) в замешательстве - (looks) confused
потягивается - stretches muscles

"Smiles faintly" is better to translate as "чуть заметно улыбается", or "еле-еле улыбается".

еле-еле doesn't work here because it sounds pretty much like "she's deadly tired but tries to smile"

, Thank you for your comment on "ele-ele". It prompted me to recall the meanings of the English words "faint", and "faintly." According to Webster's dictionary, one of the meanings of "faint" is "weak, dizzy, and likely to faint". Which would make "ele-ele" quite a possible translation, I.m.h.o. Grace and peace to you.

Okay, I can agree with you but still I don't think Valda meant a smile of a person that is going to become unconscious as in

I reckon she meant a smile like this:

smiles faintly, на мой взгляд, лучше описать длинной фразой "На её губах играет лёгкая улыбка". Это на основании первого впечатления от страницы.
