Thread: Eng->Rus, please help to translate

Hello!

There is a word that I haven't found an equivalent for it in russian. And that word is "Thirsty".
I mean the adjective "thirsty".As far as I know when they are thirsty they say: "пить хочется" but they don't use the adjective. Maby they don't have this word or maby they have, and I don't know.
I would be thankful if s.body could help me with the translation of this word.

жаждущий It's not exactly equivalent for english thirsty, because normally never used to express a desire to drink.

Thank you very much Lampada! There is also another word that I don't know it's equivalent in russian and that is the opposite of the word: "смех". I mean the noun of the verb: "плакать".

Do russians use the word "примечательность" when they talk about historical places? Is there any difference between this word and the word "достопримечательность"?? ?

Another question; what is the difference between these two sentences?
1.я увидел трое мальчиков.
2.я увидел три мальчика.

Eh... It is easier to say what they have in common. They are both incorrect .
You can say "Я увидел трёх мальчиков" или "Я увидел троих мальчиков".

oh, yes! you are right. I also wanted to say that! So finally what is the difference between "Я увидел трёх мальчиков" and "Я увидел троих мальчиков"???

In this particular sentence, the difference is negligible. Collective forms like "троих" are better avoided in very formal writing, or if you want to sound very solemn. That doesn't mean this form is terribly colloquial, just a little bit. I feel that is totally fine in informal or stylistically neutral speech or writing.
There are special cases where only "троих" can be used. For example, "Я видел всех троих". (I've seen all three (of them)) You can't say "Я видел всех трёх". If you follow the link in Lampada's post, you'll find a comprehensive discussion of the subject.

"Я родилась в своём родном городе" is a tautology. If you were born there, the fact itself means that it's your native town.
"Я родилась ... как каждый человек" doesn't make sense to me.
The whole sentence could be: Я люблю свой родной город, так же, как и ты.

Это правда, что сейчас я учусь в московском университете _ и живу в Москве, но я никогда не буду любить Москву больше своего родного города, так же, как и ты. _ Знаю, если Катя прочитает это, ей это не понравится, _ но извини! _ Говорят, правда горькая но.....( если бы ты _ была бы на моём месте, _ может быть, тоже так сказала бы)
