I need more context. But basicaly "a week before" - "предыдущая/ прошлая неделя" or "на прошлой неделе", "a week after" - "последующая/следующая неделя" or "на следующей неделе".

Why is it in the instrumental case? Is that similar to зимой/зимою or am I suffering from some kind of mental illness?

As far as I remember my Latin studies (only 2 semesters of the 1st year at the University), it is called "Instrumentalis Temporis".

Can you say:

Я был там сентябрем.
Я это сделал последним месяцем.

Нет, можно только:

Я был там в сентябре.
Я это сделал в прошлом месяце.

for more context, i was thinking these sentences alone.

*like a week before, i caught him stealing.

*did you do it on september 15th?
no, the week before (that).

in a novel: the week before, he started learning it.

same thing for after.

what about:

what would be the "opposite"?
nedelyu nazad?
