Робкий is a nice word for cowardly
    Застенчивый is introverted and self-conscious

Other than that, they are synonymous
I've got a TV, and I'm not afraid to use it

Well, I am not a girl. And my impression always was: shout at the top of your lungs, and you'll be noticed

I think people mistake a lot of things for shyness.

Yeah, if someone runs away from you, it might not be shyness, but the burrito you ate!

Also some people are just melancholy by nature...you know artist/musician types, people who think happiness doesn't bear any resemblance to reality. Some people want things simply because they can't have them, that being the sole cause of their desires.

They are drivren through life like some guy on a raft in the middle of the thrashing weather and waves. Pauvre bougre.

melancholy means sad... a shy person is not necessarily melancholy. Heck I am shyer than Mr. Shai, last years winner of the world's most shy person competition. But I am not sad!

Isn't it in human nature to always want something you don't have? That is called hope, dreams and goals. Without these we are miserable.

Sometimes if you are melancholy people think you are shy.

Goals and dreams are both happy and sad. Happy when they take your attention away from reality, and sad when they bring your attention back to it.

Sorry. I am kind of sad tonight, probably shouldn't be posting. I will regret it later like most things.

They overlap each other. So don't worry to choose one. However, some context is needed!

    Goshhh

Everyone has some shyness due to social programming. And that's normal. Too much shyness though makes you a socially disabled. Like you are afraid to speak to someone whereas there are absoloutely no real reasons for it. Wierd. Shyness is also an evolutionary trait in addition to social programming. Shyness used to save our lives back then when we were cavemen. It prevented that man from challenging the tribal leader too early. The goal is a good equilibrium, a balanced ying/yang to use esoteric terminology.

Melancholy is another issue. It is a much more modern and complex emotion. I won't comment on it now.

With your statement, you strongly imply that reality is sad. Well I don't know your case. Maybe you are crippled and stuff. Well then I would advice to see self-help doctor or stuff like that.

You just have to change your mind set towards reality. I found that living in dreams is just getting you nowhere, unless you want to be an die-hard unsocial/nerdy/geeky artist

    La vie est belle!

    damn what's this ramble?

    Mord

PS: my post was just that, nothing more.

I agree la vie est belle. Tres belle en fait. And you are right I am very happy not to be handicapped or whatever. Its just that I am reading Marcel Proust right now and he puts these ideas into my head. But I love him all the same. And most of the time I love my life, especially the music/art/skating stuff.

Still my idol Marcel was saying that he seeks happiness in a sucession of individuals only he never found any and I was really getting into the story.

I knew I would regret posting that stuff later.
